Privacy Policy

General

The GARDian program respects the privacy of every individual who visits this website. The GARDian program is provided by Baxter Healthcare Corporation and managed by a trusted third party. This Privacy Statement outlines the information the GARDian program may collect about you and how we will use that information. This Statement will also instruct you on how you can verify the accuracy of your Personally Identifiable Information submitted to the GARDian program through our websites and how you can request that we delete your Personally Identifiable Information from our databases.

The GARDian program is designed to help patients, their families, and caregivers manage life with primary immunodeficiency and provides support beyond IgG therapy for patients and healthcare professionals. The GARDian program will allow you to create a profile and enroll in the GARDian program on the Internet. The data you or your healthcare professional provides when you register or record your treatment and prescription information is considered to be personal to you. Personal information is data that can be used to identify or contact you.

Personal Information

When you visit this website, we will not collect any Personal Information about you (such as your name, address, telephone number, or e-mail address) unless you provide it to us voluntarily. We collect information from you in two ways.

  1. Active information collection is when the third party gathers information that you decide to send to them, for instance when you complete a registration form or record your treatment data or send us an e-mail. Active information may include data such as your name, date of birth, phone number, address, and email address.
  2. Passive information collection is when we collect data from you that you have not actively given us, such as the type of web browser and operating system you use. Passive data does not include personal health information and will not be linked to the personal information you have provided on this site.

Use of Personally Identifiable Information

Only you, your physician and pharmacist, along with the program managers, may use the data we collect from you for the GARDian program. Baxter will receive de-identified data, such as your patient identification number, in order to facilitate the fulfillment of your product. In addition, Baxter may receive your personal information in order to contact you in the event you notify the GARDian program of an adverse reaction. If you choose to participate in ancillary Baxter programs or services, such as clinical studies or promotions, you will be asked to expressly opt in to those programs. Baxter would subsequently receive your personal information as part of your opt in consent in order to facilitate your participation. We may use or release personal information from this site as required, to reply to your requests, to comply with the law, as required by legal action, and to protect against liability, the security and integrity of the site and the safety of its users.

Data provided by, or collected from you, will be held on a server in the United States. We have selected a third party in the United States to manage this program and house and maintain your data, and this company has agreed in writing to protect the privacy of your information. Baxter may view and use de-identified data, and other details regarding site usage, traffic patterns, and other information about our site. In the event of change of ownership, the GARDian program platform may transfer as an asset to the new owner, along with all stated responsibilities.

We will not sell, lease, transfer, share, or otherwise allow access to your personal data with any outside parties, except as we have explained in this Privacy Statement or as we tell you at the time, you provide the information. If you choose to opt in to receive updates on other Baxter programs, we will only share relevant personal information with the necessary parties to comply with this request.

Security

Baxter is committed to keeping secure the data you provide us and will take reasonable precautions to protect your Personally Identifiable Information from loss, misuse or alteration. Agents or contractors of Baxter who administer the GARDian program and have access to your Personally Identifiable Information in connection with providing services for Baxter are required to keep the information confidential and are not permitted to use this information for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for Baxter.

We want your personal data to remain safe. However, there are no systems that are 100% secure or error-free. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the security or accuracy of the information we gather.

One way we protect your personal data is through usernames and passwords. This safety measure only works if you keep your username and password secret. If you ever think your username or password are no longer secret or are being used by the wrong people, contact the GARDian program at 1-800-582-7990 right away.

We take other steps to secure your data. For example, any treatment data you give us is sent by a secure link using encryption. Encryption is the translation of data into a secret code. To read an encrypted file, you must have the key that allows you to read it, so that even if someone were able to obtain the data, they would not be able to make sense of it.

Children

In offering this website Baxter has no intention of collecting any Personally Identifiable Information from children below 18 years and will immediately destroy any such information. Children are permitted to participate in the GARDian program only with consent of their parent or legal guardian. Where appropriate, Baxter will specifically instruct children not to submit such information. If a child has provided us with Personally Identifiable Information, a parent or guardian of that child may contact us at the phone number or address listed at the bottom of this Privacy Statement if they would like this information deleted from our records. We will use reasonable efforts to delete the child’s information from our databases.

Non-Personally-Identifiable Information Collected Automatically

In some cases, we may collect information about you that is not personally identifiable. Examples of this type of information include the type of internet browser or computer operating system you are using and the domain name of the website from which you linked to our site or advertisement.

Information We May Place Automatically On Your Computer’s Hard Drive

When you view this website or advertisements, we may store some information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a “cookie” or similar file and it will help us in many ways. For example, cookies allow us to tailor a website to better match your interests and preferences. Most internet browsers enable you to erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions.

Web Beacons

Our web pages contain electronic images (called a “single-pixel gif” or “Web beacon”) that allow us to count page views or to access our cookies. In general, any electronic image viewed as part of a Web page, including an ad banner, can act as a Web beacon. Web beacons are typically very small, 1 by 1 pixel size, banner like files, but their presence can be easily seen within Internet Explorer by clicking on “View” and then on “Source.” Web beacons are so small in order not to use valuable space on the computer screen that is better used to display helpful content. We also may include Web beacons in HTML-formatted newsletters containing graphics that we send to opt-in subscribers in order to count how many newsletters have been read. In addition, some advertising networks that serve ads on our Web sites may use Web beacons within in their clearly visible banner advertisements. Our Web beacons do not collect, gather, monitor, or share any personal information about our Web site visitors. They are just the technique we use to compile our anonymous, aggregated statistics about Web site usage.
